French Polynesia is a place of paramount importance for humpback whale’s reproduction, as well as for whale-watching. Too much pressure from human activities can induce the behavior of marine mammals. The Mata Tahora association conducts acoustic and ethological impact studies on humpback whales, in addition to an awareness-raising campaign in favor of non-intrusive cetacean observations.
